A catch-all mailbox is one that captures all the emails sent to inactive addresses. For example, if your address is info@domain.com, but someone mistypes it and sends an email to inof@domain.com, it will still be received in the catch-all mailbox that you have created. Only one mailbox per domain name can have this feature enabled and thus you will never miss emails because the other side has an outdated email address or has made a typo. The downside of having a catch-all mailbox is that you may start receiving a lot of spam emails, but this problem can be solved by using an anti-spam filtering solution. It is also essential to keep in mind that a mailbox with an activated catch-all functionality cannot forward inbound email messages to a 3rd-party mailbox.

Catch-all Emails in Shared Website Hosting

In case you have a Linux shared website hosting package with our company and you wish to activate the catch-all option for a given email mailbox that you have in the web hosting account, it will take literally just one single mouse click in the Email Manager section of your Hepsia Control Panel to achieve this. A catch-all button is available to the right of each and every email address that you have created under any domain hosted in the account. You can select one single address per domain by clicking on the respective button. This will enable the feature instantaneously, so all emails sent to mistyped addresses will be delivered there. Clicking the button once again will deactivate the catch-all feature. If you have activated email forwarding, our system will show a warning note and you won’t be able to activate the catch-all feature unless you delete the forwarding or you can simply pick another mailbox to be the catch-all one.
